So here's the thing: oftentimes, as virtual assistants, we're too freaking BUSY to blog. Right?! Can I get an amen? We are being pulled in too many directions every day to have time to sit down and bang out an 800+ word count blog post with tons of value and screenshots and steps.
I know, I know. We're busy little bees.
And THEN, when we DO finally have time to sit down and take a breath and feel like getting some content whipped out, we're at a loss. What do we even write about? We're virtual assistants. I mean, we could write about our experiences and stuff, but what's something people will READ? What will bring in our target audience? Can we even use our blogs to book clients?
OMG YES. We can. And I am so super excited to show you HOW to do that today!
Let's get started. First, what you'll need to do before this is super relevant to you, is identify your target audience. Not sure how to do that? Ask yourself some of these questions:
- What kinds of online figures do I want to serve? Coaches? Bloggers? Creatives?
- What age range do I want to work with?
- Where are they located? USA? UK?
- What sorts of problems are they encountering on a daily basis?
Once you've figured all that out, keep reading!
Blog About What You Do
So you're a virtual assistant, right? Blog about whatever it is you do! For example, "How I Run Social Media Networks for My Clients" or "Exactly How I Connect Leadpages to My Blog to Deliver Freebies." If your target audience is coaches, this could bring them in. Perhaps they need someone to run their social media. Boom! They find your post about how you run social media for your clients and they're instantly interested!

Blog About Your Target's Problems
What exactly is your target audience struggling with? Tech? Then blog about tech. Email marketing? Then blog about email marketing. Doing this actually demonstrates your skills in the area and begins to build authority. Always make sure to address the problem in the title of the blog post, too. For example, instead of making the title of THIS blog post "What the heck do I even blog about?!" which I COULD'VE done, I went with "What to Blog About as a Virtual Assistant" because other virtual assistants (or those who want to become one) are my target audience. Include your target audience in your blog post titles to draw them in.
Blog a Few Generic, Staple Posts
You need a few staple posts that really bring in your target clientele. For example, I have "5 Ways to Work From Home." That brings in the kinds of people who are INTERESTED in working from home but haven't quite made it work yet, right? I also have Webinars for Bloggers and 8 Tips to Start Your Virtual Assistant Business. Here, I've addressed both bloggers (who are my virtual assistant target clients) and virtual assistants (my other business' target audience). Yes, it's okay to have multiple target audiences, as long as you have the means to accommodate both. Here are some really great staple post ideas:
